About
Plain-spoken privacy advice — tested, researched, never faked
Privacy Intact is an independent publisher that tests what can be measured, researches the rest, and explains — in plain language — the tools that help everyday people stay private and secure online.

Online privacy advice is a mess. Half of it is thinly-disguised marketing that pushes whatever's easiest to sell; the other half is fear-mongering designed to scare you into buying something. Privacy Intact exists to cut through both. We pick a category, test what we can measure ourselves, research the rest from independent labs, audits and official sources, and tell you — in plain language — what's worth your money and what isn't. We cover the everyday privacy stack: ad blocking, antivirus, password managers, VPNs, data-broker removal and private cloud storage.
What we believe
- Independence first. No company can pay to be recommended. Our rankings reflect what we'd tell our own families to install.
- Tested, not guessed. Where a tool can be measured, we run our own test — the same way every time — and for the rest we dig into the documentation and reputation. We never form a verdict from a spec sheet, and we never fake a "lived-with-it-for-weeks" story either.
- Plain language. If your parents couldn't follow the guide, we haven't finished writing it.
- Privacy-first, ourselves. Analytics stay off until you opt in, and we collect as little as possible.
How we're funded
Privacy Intact is reader-supported. Some of our links are affiliate links: if you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That's what keeps our guides free. It does not change which product we rank first — we explain exactly how we reach our verdicts in How We Review, and every affiliate link is disclosed.
To make that concrete: in our own browser test the free uBlock Origin out-scored our top ad-blocker pick, AdGuard, on raw in-browser blocking (96 vs 77/100), and we say so right on the page; if all you need is a browser blocker, we tell you to take the free one. Our antivirus advice likewise starts with the free Microsoft Defender that's already built into Windows.
Who writes our guides
Our guides are researched, scored and edited by the Privacy Intact team, and tested in-house where a category can be measured directly. We publish under our brand rather than inventing author personas — you won't find fake bios, stock-photo headshots or made-up credentials here. When a guide says "we tested it," that means we actually ran the tool and saved the result — an automated check with the score and a dated screenshot kept as proof; when we couldn't measure something directly, we tell you so and mark it as researched. The full method is in How We Review.
